Celebrities don’t follow the same style rules as everybody else, and for Sofia Carson, that meant wearing knee-high boots in 98-degree weather. The actress is in New York promoting her latest Netflix project, “My Oxford Year,” and ahead of an appearance at ABC Studios on Tuesday, she was spotted wearing a pair of sleek, black leather boots.

The actress opted for a knee-high style that flaunted a sharp pointed-toe design, and a stiletto heel measuring around four inches. Carson wore her pants tucked into her boots, which fit loosely around her leg, creating a bit of a slouchy effect in the front. She contrasted the baggy, loose-fitting trousers with a matching structured jacket with long sleeves, a collar and concealed buttons.

Pairing the all-black ensemble with leather boots in the sweltering New York heat might seem out of place, but boots have been a popular footwear choice for people this summer, often paired with cutoff shorts, miniskirts or dresses, for added contrast.

From Anne Hathaway wearing Paris Texas boots on the set of “The Devil Wears Prada 2” to Beyoncé Knowles-Carter hitting the stage in custom designer boots for the “Cowboy Carter” tour, boots have ceased being just a winter shoe and have become a year-round shoe option.

Amid the “My Oxford Year” press tour, Carson has been spotted wearing pointed-toe pumps, platform pumps and other classic shoe styles, including the Christian Louboutin Condora 100mm pumps. The Netflix film is out on Friday and follows an ambitious American student who travels to Oxford in England to fulfill her dream, but encounters a charming local who changes both their lives. The film is based on a novel by Julia Whelan, which was adapted from Burnett’s original screenplay.
