The film features Lady superstar of the Bengali film industry, Subhashree Ganguly and Megastar, Dev, in lead roles. The film, directed by Kaushik Ganguly, also stars Rudranil Ghosh, Chiranjeet Chakraborty and Parambrata Chatterjee. Dhumketu is Dev’s most-talked-about project, and over the years, both the director and Dev have addressed it as one of the finest films in the actor’s career.
In the film, Dev will be seen in a never-seen-before avatar of an 82-year-old man, with prosthetic makeup. Dev’s look from Dhumketu marked a significant change in his on-screen image as a romantic and an action hero. On May 23, 2025, Dev took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) and announced that his much-awaited film, Dhumketu, is finally set to release. Sharing a poster of the film, Dev wrote:

Earlier, the duo promoted the film separately, but they will be seen together at the trailer launch event. For the uninitiated, the film’s trailer launch event is on August 14, 2025.
