In a push towards sustainable waste management, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has launched a 300-ton-per-day capacity construction and demolition waste processing facility at Harikansh Garhi in Mohanlalganj.
This newly inaugurated unit is equipped with cutting-edge Wet Processing Technology and Hydro Cyclone Washers, ensuring efficient and scientific disposal of waste.
Set up under a public-private partnership (PPP) model, the Integrated Processing Unit is capable of handling all kinds of construct and demolition waste.
The facility recycles materials such as coarse aggregates, fine aggregates, and screened soil. These materials are then used to manufacture precast concrete products, including interlocking paver blocks and boundary wall panels.
To curb dust pollution, the plant area has been concretised, with plantations and water sprinklers installed as additional measures. The unit also prioritises water conservation by using Aqua Cycle Thickeners and Filter Presses in the recycling process.
The facility aims to improve overall urban cleanliness. The recycled materials produced are being used in civic infrastructure projects and are also available for purchase by government departments, private developers, and the public.
To streamline waste collection, LMC has developed waste collection centres in every zone. Additionally, a dedicated 24×7 helpline number has been made operational for public assistance.
The city’s municipal body also plans to issue bye-laws to ensure effective waste management and eliminate illegal dumping of construction and demolition waste.
