The shareholders approved the appointment of Priya, the wife of their former chairman, Sunjay Kapur, during the annual general meeting on July 25, 2025. Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd, also known as Sona Comstar, shared in a regulatory filing about the appointment.
They shared that Priya Sachdev has been appointed as an Additional Director in the capacity of Non-Executive Director, effective June 23, 2025. The changes come a month and a half after Sunjay Kapur’s sudden demise. Following the demise of Sunjay, the company’s board had unanimously appointed Jeffery Mark Overly as the chairman of the company on June 23, 2025. Sunjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, in a letter to the board dated July 24, 2025, alleged that while the family was mourning the death of her son, some people chose to take it as an opportunity to gain control and usurp their family’s legacy.

He requested that the game be stopped and then left the ground. Soon, he suffered a heart attack and died. An insider also revealed that Sunjay Kapur reportedly swallowed a bee, and it is possible that the bee sting in his throat may have caused a heart attack. It is worth noting that Sunjay Kapur had a polo team called ‘Aureus’, in which he served as a patron. The businessman was playing against ‘Sujan’, a team led by the hotelier, Jaisal Singh.
