A woman participating in the Home Guard recruitment process at the BMP-3 parade ground in the Bodh Gaya police station area in Bihar was raped by the ambulance driver and technician while being transported to the hospital, police said on Friday.
The incident occurred on July 24, after the woman fainted during a race and was rushed to a hospital in an ambulance stationed at the site.
According to a press release by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anand Kumar, the woman candidate informed police about the assault. Based on her complaint, ambulance driver Vinay Kumar and technician Ajit Kumar were arrested within two hours.
A special investigation team led by Bodh Gaya SDPO Saurabh Jaiswal was formed to handle the case.
A forensic team was sent to collect evidence and CCTV footage from the area helped identify the accused. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Bodh Gaya police station and the investigation is underway.
SSP Anand Kumar said the investigation will be completed promptly, a charge sheet will be filed soon and efforts will be made to ensure a fast-track trial and legal action against both the accused.
