Actress Ruchi Gujjar has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against producer Karan Singh Chauhan, accusing him of fraud, criminal breach of trust, and intimidation in a financial dispute worth Rs 24 lakh. The FIR was lodged at the Oshiwara police station on July 24, 2025.
The matter pertains to the co-production of a Hindi television serial, where Ruchi claims she transferred Rs 24 lakh from her company, SR Event and Entertainment, to Karan Singh Chauhan’s firm, K Studios, and other accounts between July 2023 and January 2024.
Ruchi has alleged that Karan first contacted her via WhatsApp, introducing himself as the producer of a Hindi serial that was set to air on Sony TV. She said, “He offered to add me as a co-producer and also sent documents related to the project.” Trusting his claims, she proceeded to transfer the money in multiple instalments.
However, Ruchi told the police that no work ever began on the serial. “Despite repeated contacts, he kept postponing them and lied,” she said. She also alleged that instead of using the funds for the serial, Karan invested the money in a film titled So Long Valley.
“When I got the information that the film is releasing on July 27, I told him to return my money now, on which he started threatening me,” Ruchi said in her complaint.
The police have registered a case under sections 318(4), 352, and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The actress has reportedly provided detailed records of the financial transactions, including account numbers and documents, in the FIR. Mumbai Police has initiated an investigation and is examining banking transactions, call records, and other relevant evidence.
Ruchi Gujjar had earlier made headlines after appearing at the Cannes Film Festival wearing a necklace featuring a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
