Filmmaker Raj Kumar Gupta’s Raid 2, which released in theatres worldwide on May 1, entered the Rs. 100 Crore Club on the last day of its extended first weekend yesterday. The Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh starrer currently stands at Rs. 103.90 crores.
In this way, Raid 2 has become Devgn’s 11th highest Rs. 100 crores grosser of all time. The film achieved that feat by overtaking De De Pyaar De which has a lifetime score of Rs. 103.64 crores.
The box office journey of Raid 2 is far from over. In fact, the last minute cancellation of the release of the Maddock Films’ Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi starrer Bhool Chuk Maaf is set to benefit the Raj Kumar Gupta movie. Hence, Raid 2 is all set to soon surpass a couple of films ahead in the list like Son Of Sardaar (Rs. 105.03 crores) and Golmaal 3 (Rs. 106.34 crores).
Later on, it also has a chance of going past Gangubai Kathiawadi, which has a lifetime score of Rs. 129.10 crores. But only time will tell whether Raid 2 will surpass Singham Returns’ lifetime score of Rs. 140.62 crores.
Raid 2 is the sequel to the successful Raid, which had released in 2018. Produced under the banners of T-Series Films and Panorama Studios, the film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Saurabh Shukla and Supriya Pathak.
