Jessica Simpson’s new song, Fade’s lyrics hints at a painful separation from Eric Johnson after 10 years of marriage

Jessica, a while back, took to her Instagram handle to share a monochrome video of her rehearsing on her newly launched song, Fade. She had earlier, in an interview with US Weekly, shared that she was living separately from Eric and also navigated a painful situation. Well, the first two verses of her song, Fade, go like:

“You can always say you love me that doesn’t mean that I feel loved. There’s a green light in the distance, and all your words become too much. Well, I won’t repeat this history, the kind I’ve seen times before. Here’s the part, I should say I miss you, but I think you’ll miss me more.”

When Jessica Simpson shared that her kids come first, even after the separation

Jessica, in an interview with US Weekly had shared that her children come first, and she, Eric are focusing on what is best for them. They are grateful for all the love that has been pouring their way, but appreciate privacy at the moment as they work through this as a family. Well, a heartbroken part of her new song, Fade speaks about how she wants home to always be a feeling. It goes like:

“You’re as empty as your promise, go sleep alone in the bed you made. I want my heart to feel held safe, I know that home is a feeling, and not a place. Oh, there won’t be a next time, Cause I won’t break.”

Jessica Simpson talks about heartbreak in Fade

Well, it looks like Jessica has been very open about her heartbreak in the song, Fade. The track was released on July 22, 2025, and it speaks about a relationship that has come to an end and is now not seeing the light of day. The lyrics of Fade talk about the singer being loved, but it doesn’t mean she is feeling love. There’s a green light in the distance, and all the words of the lover have become too much. Jessica’s heartbreaking song also says:

“You can just wait on me. I won’t be around watching you fade on me; your words mean nothing now. I have way too good a memory. I have no more heart to break. You’re as empty as your promise. Go sleep alone in the bed you made. I’ve been way too optimistic; now it’s all taking a turn, they’re gonna talk, but it’s not their business. The stars align and sometimes burn.”

Jessica, in her song, has kept the name of her ex as unnamed. She revealed that the song came from the bottom of her heart in a press statement and shared of living through this heavy, emotional moment, but there was no way that she was going to cancel the songwriting session.
