A Major Lift for Mauritius Tourism

Starting 1 December 2025, Emirates will introduce a third daily flight to Mauritius, operated by a three-class Boeing 777-300ER. The new service, flight EK709/710, marks a significant increase in capacity, over 30% more seats, on a route already in high demand across the airline’s global network of over 140 destinations. This expansion builds on Emirates’ strong presence in Mauritius. The airline currently operates two daily Airbus A380 services (EK701/702 and EK703/704), making it the only carrier flying the A380 to the island, and the only airline offering First Class seats to Mauritius. The third flight will not only enhance travel options for leisure and business travellers from the Middle East, Europe, the Americas, and Far East markets such as Japan, China, Malaysia, and Hong Kong, but also cater to increased demand generated through Emirates’ partnership with Air Mauritius. The additional service will be operated under a codeshare agreement with the national carrier, ensuring seamless connectivity and more flexible travel itineraries.Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, underscored the airline’s strategic commitment:“We would like to thank the Mauritian authorities for making an additional daily service possible. We have been proudly serving Mauritius since 2002 and our double daily A380 services have been a major success and contributor to the growth of the country’s tourism industry. The additional daily service on our wide-body Boeing 777 aircraft will enable a more than 30 percent increase in capacity on the route, while also providing additional flight options for leisure and business travellers to seamlessly connect to flights.”

Passengers can now book seats across First Class, Business Class, and Economy Class on the new EK709/710 service.

    Economic Impact and Longstanding Partnership

Emirates’ expanded Mauritius schedule isn’t just about added convenience, it reflects a deeper, long-term investment in the island’s economy, tourism, and international connectivity. Since the airline’s launch on the route in 2002, Emirates has transported:

    • Over 8.8 million passengers
    • More than 126,000 tonnes of cargo

Its contributions to the Mauritian economy include:

    • USD 119 million in direct impact from airline operations
    • USD 264 million in tourism receipts
    • A total of USD 530 million from tourism-related spending

The airline’s presence has also supported the creation of 3,600 local jobs. Additionally, hundreds of Mauritians are employed by Emirates in roles ranging from pilots and cabin crew to engineering, customer service, and corporate functions. Kazim highlighted this broader value proposition:“We recently reaffirmed our codeshare partnership with Air Mauritius and our shared commitment to putting the destination on the global stage by facilitating steady growth in tourist demand for visits to Mauritius. We are also pleased to support and complement the operations of the national carrier, whose services have contributed to our success on this route.” He added that this third flight will “allow both airlines to meet demand rom global travellers.” Emirates has worked closely with Air Mauritius since 2003, and with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) since 2012 on joint initiatives to market the island globally. The current Emirates-Mauritius schedule features 14 A380 flights per week, offering over 15,000 seats, with the airline playing a leading role in making Mauritius more accessible to international visitors.

Why Mauritius Is Worth the Journey

As Emirates ramps up its service, travellers can look forward to more opportunities to experience Mauritius’ diverse offerings, a mix of pristine beaches, lush forests, marine life, and cultural heritage. Top experiences include:
