Today, the Prince and Princess of Wales released a new portrait of their second child and only daughter in honor of her 10th birthday. Taken by her mother, Kate Middleton, it shows the young princess in the wilds of Cumbria, a region in the northwest of England. She wears a camouflage jacket and backpack as she smiles into the camera. (An iPhone camera, to be specific: according to Sky News, Middleton took the photo on her Apple device.)

It is an annual tradition for the Waleses to release portraits of the children on their birthday. Often, the photographs are taken by Middleton herself, lending them an air of informality and approachability. In an interview, he expressed a desire to end the widening rift with the rest of his family: “I would love reconciliation,” he said. “There’s no point continuing to fight anymore. Life is precious.”
Harry also referenced Prince Charles’s ongoing battle with cancer. “I don’t know how much longer my father has,” he continued. “He won’t speak to me because of this security stuff. But it would be nice to reconcile.”
