Angel City Football Club stars and sisters Alyssa and Giselle Thompson just scored big in the beauty game. The two athletes, aged 20 and 19 respectively, are the newest faces of Nyx Professional Makeup‘s “Make Them Look” campaign, a multifaceted activation showcasing beauty’s role in the world of women’s sports.
The Thompson girls’ appointment comes after the University of Southern California’s basketball guard Juju Watkins was named as the face of the campaign in 2024, its inaugural year.
“We talk a lot about our confidence and how that’s grown over the years, and we want to continue that [through this campaign] and help spread that to other people coming and seeing us play,” Alyssa told WWD over a video call. “I think this campaign is so cool, because it’s not only about how the product looks on you, but like how you feel when you’re wearing the product, and that’s super important to us.”
As part of this union, both Alyssa and Giselle will be featured across all of Nyx’s social platforms, advertising the products they wear on and off the field. For both Alyssa and Giselle, their relationship with beauty has come a long way since their initial infatuation with makeup as kids.

“We would make little videos pretending like we were on YouTube,” Giselle recalled. “But we never really had a lot of makeup; it was usually just a palette of blushes or bronzer and eye shadows. We had one brush that we would share and two lip glosses. But we would love to do makeup and pretend we knew what we were doing.”
Maturing into the professional athletes they are today, the Thompson sisters have come to understand that the gamut of beauty is so much more than the makeup they once played with; it’s about self-actualization and confidence. Giselle explained: “Even when we’re playing soccer, when I feel good, and look good, I’ll play better and I’ll feel more confident in myself and my abilities to do anything.”
This sentiment rings true for both Gisele and Alyssa. However, they’re careful not to put a ton on their faces before they take the field together. Giselle limits her game-time makeup to a simple combination she won’t have to worry about: eyebrow gel and a light layer of gloss. Alyssa, similarly, will reach for brow gel and lip gloss, and maybe an eyebrow pencil from time to time. Off the field is a different story. The athletes honored their new partnership with Nyx at the 2025 ESPY Awards on July 16, donning a full glam using only products by the brand.

Nyx was established as a founding-level partner of Angel City FC back in 2024, marking the company’s move into soccer. Not long after, the drugstore cosmetics brand signed a multiyear deal with the team to become the squad’s official sleeve sponsor with their logo stitched on the gear.
