Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh, is a highly anticipated project directed by Farhan Akhtar. However, this project faced a lot of challenges with the schedule as some of the main cast members quit from the project. According to reports, Kiara Advani was initially slated to be the lead actress, but she stepped down from the role due to her pregnancy. Vikrany Massey also quit Don 3, as he did not find his role as the antagonist to be substantial.
However now, the filmmakers can heave a sigh of relief as Kriti Sanon has been confirmed as the new lead actress. Reports also suggest that Bigg Boss 18 winner, Karan Veer Mehra, has been offered the role of the villain. If the rumours are to be believed, then this role could turn out to be Karan’s big break in Bollywood.

Karan Veer Mehra recently posted the first look of his fierce and battle-scared character, ‘Zeheraak’, from the upcoming movie Silaa. According to an IANS report, the makers of Don 3 were impressed by his recent performances and his look in Sillaa. Hence, they have approached the Bigg Boss 18 winner with an offer to play the villain opposite Ranveer Singh in Don 3, after Vikrant Massey, who was slated to play the same character, quit from the project. The report also says that the actor could not pass on this once-in-a-lifetime offer; however, he hasn’t signed on the dotted line, and hence there has not been any official confirmation yet.
More about the antagonist role of Don 3
Ranveer Singh has officially stepped into the shoes of Shah Rukh Khan to play the titular character in the third instalment of Don. A Bollywood Hungama report had suggested that Vikrant Massey was initially roped in to play the antagonist opposite Ranveer, but then he exited from the project. A source close to the portal the antagonist is supposed to be a complex character who is a charming and persuasive fraudster. However, dissatisfied with the weightage of his character, Vikrant quit the film. The 12th Fail actor wanted this character to have more substance.
Reports had hinted towards two actors who might have been approached to play the character of the con artist. Those actors were Vijay Deverakonda and Aditya Roy Kapur. However, the source who revealed that Karan was being offered the role also stated that Vijay Deverakonda had been approached even before Vikrant Massey. But following Liger‘s massive box-office failure, he reportedly rejected the huge project.
Delays in the schedule of Don 3 are reported
Don 3‘s schedule has been allegedly delayed due to the massive trolling Ranveer Singh faced after Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment announced that he would be the new ‘Don’. The actor also underwent intense MMA training to prepare for the role. Kiara Advani had reportedly been signed for the role of ‘Roma’, ‘Don’s ladylove. However, the film team had to halt operations again as Kiara embraced motherhood. But now Kriti Sanon has finally joined the starcast. Amidst all this, Farhan Akhtar is wrapping up the shoot of his upcoming film, 120 Bahadur, where he is playing the lead. Hence, the producer and director of Don 3 is busy with his own acting endeavours currently.
