Recently actress, Gauahar Khan spoke about the emotional pain she felt on losing her first child. In an honest and candid podcast with Debina Bonnerjee, the actress, known for her fierce screen presence and professionalism, revealed the emotional and physical toll that the difficult phase took on her and how she rebuilt herself to embrace motherhood again. She even shared her experience of balancing career and married life.
Gauahar Khan suffered a miscarriage during her first pregnancy
In an honest chat with Debina, Gauahar Khan shared that she and her husband, Zaid Darbar, had planned to start a family soon after their marriage because Gauahar was already 36 years old. But their plan got shattered when she suffered a miscarriage during her first pregnancy. She revealed that within 8-9 weeks of the pregnancy, she lost the child. Gauahar also mentioned how emotionally draining that experience was. She said:
“It was extremely difficult, and it took me some time to get over it.”
In the same podcast, she said that the miscarriage affected her and Zaid physically and emotionally. It took them almost a year and a half to feel ready to try again for a child. In her words:
“1 saal usme lag gaya for me to recover from that and hoping that okay let’s try again because you can’t immediately try. Toh hume 1/1.5 years toh usme lag gaye.”
Gauahar Khan reveals working during pregnancy
Gauahar Khan also revealed how during all of her pregnancies she was working. To be more particular she was doing action sequences. Gauahar said that by the time she was ready to try again for a child after miscarriage, she was 38 years old, so she couldn’t think of work or anything else. She revealed:
“There was no time, if I had to have a baby, i had to have a baby. At 38-39 ke age mein, I can’t really think ki kaam ka kya hoga. Kaam toh aayega hi, if you are good. In fact, I was shooting throughout my first pregnancy. Funnily, mere dono pregnancy mein in the first 3 months, I was shooting action shows, so both my babies are going to be action babies.”
Gauahar Khan is currently pregnant for the second time and on the podcast, she mentioned that during this pregnancy, she was shooting the climax scene of Fauji 2 in Pune. Jokingly she also said that she is expecting her child to be a complete action kid.

Despite having a traumatic past of experiencing miscarriage, Gauahar and Zaid tried and were blessed with their first child, Zehaan, when Gauahar turned 39 years old. Gauahar very fondly spoke about conceiving Zehaan and mentioned that the pregnancy period was very smooth. She also revealed her second pregnancy and shared how grateful she is to embrace motherhood again.

Gauahar Khan met Zaid Darbar during the lockdown at a grocery store. They started off by talking on Instagram and soon became very good friends. Slowly and gradually, their friendships blossomed into something more. Later, Zaid proposed to Gauahar and the duo got engaged in November 2020. On December 5, 2020, the couple got married in a beautiful wedding ceremony.
