He met with a car accident in 2005, and since then, he had been in a coma.     For the unversed, ‘Sleeping Prince’ is the nephew of the billionaire businessman Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal and the eldest son of Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud. The ‘Sleeping Prince’ had some big dreams, which could be proved by the fact that he was studying in a military cadet school in the UK before he met with the tragic accident that took away 20 years of his life from him. It was in 2005 when he met with a car accident, which caused severe brain injury. The Sleeping Prince’s brain injury and brain trauma led to internal bleeding, and it ultimately led him to a coma.

    ‘Sleeping Prince’, AI-Waleed bin Khalid bin Talal AI was admitted to a hospital, and later he was transferred to King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh. He remained in a coma for 20 years through life support, until his death. He remained unresponsive for twenty years; however, his family members often shared clips to show his improved condition when he reportedly lifted his finger or waved his hand. His father, Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, would share glimpses through social media, which garnered a great deal of attention along with prayers from well-wishers. Later, the prince started to be known as the ‘Sleeping Prince’ of Saudi Arabia.

    If reports by the Gulf and Mirror are to be believed, the ‘Sleeping Prince’s parents were advised by the doctors to stop providing life support to him, but they denied the same. His father said that if his son was fated to die, then the family members would have been in the graveyard rather than being in the hospital. He kept believing in the fact that his son would wake up someday. On special occasions, he would deck his son’s cabin beautifully, which eventually became symbolic.

    It was on July 19, 2025, when Saudi Arabia’s ‘Sleeping Prince’, AI-Waleed bin Khalid bin Talal AI, bid farewell to the world. It was confirmed by his father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, through an X (Twitter) post, wherein he revealed that his son passed away at a medical facility in Saudi Arabia. The grieving father mourned his son’s demise in the heartbreaking post. The post also revealed the details about the ‘Sleeping Prince’s funeral. For the unversed, the ‘Sleeping Prince’s funeral is about to take place on July 20, 2025.
