Mohanlal has once again proven why he’s considered one of Indian cinema’s finest. In a newly released jewellery advertisement, the legendary actor delivers a scene-stealing performance – all without a single line of dialogue. The ad hinges entirely on his expressive eyes, fluid gestures, and magnetic screen presence.
Directed by acclaimed ad filmmaker Prakash Varma, who also starred alongside Mohanlal in ‘Thudarum’, the 110-second commercial marks a reunion filled with warmth and mischief. It opens with Mohanlal stepping out of a car and being greeted by Prakash on set. “We’ve shot this in fashion photography style,” he informs, introducing the actor to model Shivani.
What starts off as a standard behind-the-scenes shoot quickly takes a playful turn. As Mohanlal’s attention drifts to the diamond jewellery adorning Shivani, the plot thickens. Moments later, while Shivani leaves the frame with Prakash, the jewellery goes missing. The crew panics – only to find Mohanlal in his vanity van, quietly transforming the narrative.
Decked out in the very same jewellery, Mohanlal performs a graceful, almost meditative dance, channelling a fluid femininity with stunning ease. Every twirl and hand gesture is executed with such elegance, it becomes impossible to look away. The ad ends on a light, humorous note as Prakash walks in on the impromptu performance, triggering shared laughter between the two.

Unsurprisingly, the ad has gone viral, with viewers lauding Mohanlal’s uncanny ability to shift personas. An X user summed it up: “Only Lalettan can do that (red heart emoji) (sic).” Others echoed the sentiment, praising, “That’s why we call him the complete actor (sic),” calling it “graceful,” “natural,” and even “cringe-worthy – but in the best way (sic).”
