Natalie Portman is spending July in New York City filming her upcoming romantic comedy, “Good Sex,” and her character’s wardrobe is setting a new standard for office shoes.

In the Lena Dunham-directed film, Portman plays a 40-year-old couples therapist named Ally, who, after spending a decade in failed relationships, reluctantly reenters the New York dating scene. Since the movie began filming, the actress has been spotted in several of her character’s looks, and so far, they have fully embraced the ongoing “office core” trend.

The “office core” trend has surged onto runways and into modern wardrobes in 2025, rooted in the revival of sharp tailoring, power dressing and a blend of traditionally masculine and feminine elements. As this style permeates workwear, office core shoe options emphasize both professionalism and versatility — key styles include loafers, Oxfords, ballet flats, minimalist boots, low heels and sleek sneakers for women, most commonly in neutral tones.

On Tuesday, Portman and her costar Rashida Jones were spotted filming a scene together in Washington Square Park in New York City. For that scene, Portman embraced the trend, also known as “corp core,” in a chic black miniskirt and a Prada pleated sable blouse in an off-white, ivory color, with a bow and pockets in black. She paired the look with a patent leather flat shoe that blends two classic styles: the loafer and the ballet flat.

Her shoes featured a pointed, square toe and an extended vamp that revealed the foot on the sides. Proenza Schouler and Khaite both offer a similar style, both with a slightly pointed toe.

The actress also paired the look with Jacquemus Les Boucles Rond Carre earrings in gold and a black and gold Jacquemus La Calino tote bag. Meanwhile, Jones’ character donned a pair of Haddie Dad sandals by Intentionally Blank in the color Ojai.

Portman wore another fall look while filming on July 2. She wore a gray Alaïa poplin skater shirtdress. The short dress featured short sleeves with buttoned cuffs, a pointed collar, flap chest pockets, a sculpted waistline and an A-line flared skirt. She paired the dress with a pair of white leather Celine mary jane pumps.

The shoes featured a pointed toe and a short heel measuring around three inches, making them manageable enough for a commute or to wear around the office. She paired her shoes with Alaïa’s Le Ca’ur bag in perforated white leather and added chic brown and black Dior Dior Signature B7I sunglasses.

Also on July 2, the “May December” star was spotted on set in the West Village wearing a more casual yet still polished look. While her first two shoes were more feminine, Portman added a bit of a masculine flair to her look with a pair of patent leather Oxfords.

The black shoes featured a round toe and a short heel. She wore the laced-up shoes without socks and paired them with a gray tweed blazer and cut-off denim shorts.

More looks from the show’s cast are expected, as the movie continues production before heading to Netflix. Mark Ruffalo, Tucker Pillsbury, Meg Ryan and Tramell Tillman are also set to star alongside Portman.
