Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay’s cult classic hit TV serial, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, will be back with a reboot version. She is all set to return to the small screen with the sequel, and whenever the actress remembers her character as ‘Tulsi’, a sense of nostalgia fills her. The actress turned politician was dedicated to her craft to the extent that Ekta Kapoor recently revealed how the actress came on the sets of the serial, two days after her delivery. Smriti created a household name for herself with her role as ‘Tulsi Virani’.

Smriti’s character as ‘Tulsi’ was worshipped by millions of Indians. She got overnight fame with the show and has had a brilliant relationship with Ekta. She and Ektaa sat down for an interview with the Hindustan Times, and Smriti shared that she had two kids during her journey with Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Ekta added how Smriti had returned to the sets of the show, just two days after her delivery and shared:
“The only person I know who had my production head was on the hotline with her. Every time he cried, she would just land up on the sets. Ok, I am having a baby, she is the only one who came on the sets two days after her delivery. She knew that the telecast had to be made quickly, and Kyuki could not happen without those.”
Smriti further added that the production team of Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi made sure that if something happened to her during her pregnancy, there was a hospital nearby. The actress added that the team had measured the distance between the set and the hospital to see how quickly they could drive. That is how she has seen the company grow.
How did Smriti Irani get the role of ‘Tulsi Virani’ in Kyuki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi?
Smriti earlier in an interview with ETimes shared that she had gone for the audition of her role at Ekta’s dad, Jeetendra’s home and did not have any clue on who Ekta was. The actress even shared that years later, she came to know that an astrologer called Janardhan had predicted the future of Smriti in front of Ekta. Remembering how she got her role in Kyuki, Ekta shared:
“They had called me for a role in Hum Panch to replace Rakhi Vijan. But that role never made sense to me so I refused and instead, I bagged a role in Ghar Ek Mandir. But instead of that contract, Ekta gave me Kyunki’s contract.”
Smriti further revealed that Janardhan was a pandit who worked in Ekta’s office. He is a face reader and told Ekta to stop the girl, that is Smriti. He predicted that the actress would be making history, and that is what happened, as Ekta believed in the words of Janardhan. Smriti did share recently that for her, the serial was a passion project.
