Tomorrowland is considered the biggest musical festival around the world, but before this year’s event could begin, a major fire broke out at Tomorrowland’s main stage. The event was held at Boom, Belgium, and just two days before the festival, the main stage caught fire. The cause of the fire is still unknown. However, the best part is that there were no casualties.
Tomorrowland’s main stage caught fire
On July 16, 2025, news broke that the main stage at Tomorrowland had caught fire. The stage, which is famous for its over-the-top design, was burned to the ground. The fire was extinguished by 8 p.m., as emergency services were already on the site and took prompt action. However, the Electronic dance music festival will proceed as planned on July 18, 2025. As reported by the BBC, almost 4,00,000 people will be attending the event over two weekends. In a statement, the organisers shared:
“Due to a serious incident and fire on the Tomorrowland Mainstage, our beloved Mainstage has been severely damaged. We can confirm that no one was injured during the incident. We can announce that, DreamVille (campsite) will open tomorrow (Thursday, July 17) as planned and will be ready for all DreamVille visitors. All Global Journey activities in Brussels and Antwerp will take place as planned. We are focused on finding solutions for the festival weekend (Friday – Saturday – Sunday). More updates and detailed information will be communicated as soon as possible.”
It is worth mentioning that Tomorrowland will open its DreamVille campsite on July 17, 2025. Several events and performances will take place, and all additional events will proceed as planned. According to a report by Rolling Stone, Debby Wilmsen, a spokesperson for Tomorrowland, revealed that years of love and passion have been invested in building the stage. She was quoted as saying:
“Years of love and passion have gone into building that stage. Those teams are devastated. Tomorrow, 38,000 festival-goers will arrive, we’re really looking forward to that, and we’re going to give them a warm welcome. We’re going to make it a wonderful festival.”
Wilmsen further added that all the other Tomorrowland stages are still intact. She added that they plan to let the festival proceed as planned. However, they cannot set up the main stage, so this year’s show will be held without it. She further revealed that their production team’s plan was to do everything possible to make it special for the attendees.
There are hundreds of artists set to perform at Tomorrowland in Belgium, including David Guetta, Lost Frequencies, Swedish House Mafia, and Charlotte de Witte. However, let us inform you that the cause of the fire remains unclear. In the videos, it appears that fireworks are popping off in the background as firefighters do their best to contain the blazing fire. It is believed that something may have gone terribly wrong while the main stage’s fireworks cannons were being tested. A local firefighter revealed that the blaze ‘spread quickly’ due to the materials used to build the stage. He said:
“We tried to extinguish the fire, but as soon as you realise you’re not succeeding, you have to limit the damage to the rest of the festival site. That’s what we did. Everything is under control.”
Tomorrowland is the biggest EDM festival across the world and has gained a lot of love over the past 20 years.
