TVF’s new series, Gram Chikitsalay has grabbed a whole lot of attention lately. The star cast of this series includes Amol Parashar, Vinay Pathak, Anandeshwar Dwivedi, Akash Makhija, Akansha Ranjan Kapoor, Garima Singh, and Santoo Kumar. Directed by Rahul Pandey, Gram Chikitsalay was loved by the viewers, especially those who had binge-watched Panchayat. While the small-town charm, social commentary, and humour of this show can provide a calm and comforting space to the viewers, its predictability was a backstep for it. So much so that one could predict the plot from the first episode itself.

Gram Chikitsalay: A deja vu for the Panchayat lovers, but it stands out due to the lead’s strong acting skills

The series, Gram Chikitsalay revolves around the village named Bhatkandi, and it’s more like a rural drama. The main lead ‘Dr. Prabhat’, was played by Amol Parashar, and he delivered an impressive role in the series. He essayed his role as a city doctor, who came to the village, Bhatkandi with a wish to improve the local healthcare. Later, he got a reality check after finding out the poor condition of the place. Throughout the series, Amol proved his mettle in acting by doing justice to the role that was offered to him. From the dialogue delivery to the acting, Amol did his best, and it was one of the strong points that, although the plot was predictable in this show, it carved a space in the hearts of the viewers.

As the plot evolves, ‘Dr. Prabhat’ found two helpers in the characters of ‘Phutani’ and ‘Govind’. The helpers warned him about a fake doctor of the village, whom the inhabitants trust even though he doesn’t hold a proper medical degree, despite having a clinic. ‘Dr. Prabhat’ soon realised that the first thing he would have to do was to gain the trust of the villagers. We could also witness an amazing portrayal of ‘Dr. Gargi’, who gave ‘Dr. Prabhat’, a reality check that complaining won’t fix anything, for that matter. Their relationship remained professional thoroughly and no love-angle was witnessed which worked well to make the show stand out.

How Gram Chikitsalay could carve a place for itself in the hearts of the viewers?

While one can predict how the series will evolve till the final episode, it stood out because of its comforting space with its humour, small-town charm, and more. The dialogues were written by Vaibhav and Shreya, and they felt connected to a place like Bhatkandi. The plot is set in a rural background and showcases the everyday struggles of a place, where problems don’t get fixed on easy terms.

It was a hidden challenge for ‘Dr. Prabhat’ to understand the people of the village, whom he really wanted to help. So, although the viewers got a deja vu of an iconic series they witnessed, Gram Chikitsalay could carve a space in the hearts of the viewers. But there remains a loop, where things started abruptly and moved forward, keeping things unresolved. Now, viewers have to wait to see if they will find the missing links in the seasons to come.

How audience have been reacting to it?

Gram Chikitsalay received mixed reviews from the audience. While some loved the series, others felt that the mid-episodes were stretched too far. On the other hand, others expected that it would evolve into something bigger in the seasons to come. One user penned, “Made a good start in the first few episodes, the humour was there. Mid-episodes felt like it was stretched too far on very few topics only. The ending was abrupt and very much predictable. A bit more of a story was expected. TVF has raised its own bar with its other shows that why this one felt a little below that level.”

Another user commented, “As usual TVF has delivered a masterpiece. It is very sad to see that daily soap has 50-100 episodes in a season and masterpieces like these have only 5 episodes in a season. Mann kaise bharega TVF se guzaarish hai please season thoda lamba kijiye.”

What do you think about TVF’s Gram Chikitsalay and its predictable plot that could be perceived from the beginning?
