Indian college students are set to get free access to some of Google’s most advanced AI tools for a full year. The tech company has rolled out a new offer, Gemini for Students, giving eligible users a free subscription to its AI-powered Gemini Advanced plan, normally part of the Google One AI Premium bundle.

The offer is open to students aged 18 and above. They must register by September 15, 2025, through the official Google offer page to get access.

    WHAT STUDENTS WILL GET

Once enroled, students will be able to use Gemini 2.5 Pro, Google’s most powerful AI model yet. The plan also includes tools for study, writing, research, and job prep:

    • Unlimited academic support – from exam help to homework, essays, coding, and interviews

    • NotebookLM (with 5x usage limits) – helps organise and summarise study notes

    • Gemini Live – for real-time interaction and personalised learning

    • Veo 3 – Google’s AI-powered video creator for presentations or projects

    • Deep Research tools – to pull from high-quality sources for school work

    • Integration with Gmail, Docs, Sheets – for smoother writing and editing tasks

Students will also get 2 TB of cloud storage on Google Drive, Gmail, and Photos—enough space to handle research, assignments, presentations, and creative files.

    WHY IS GOOGLE DOING THIS?

With more students using AI to study and prepare for careers, Google says the plan is meant to support responsible exploration of AI tools.

The company hopes this will help students learn better, faster, and smarter — with proper guidance and resources.

The initiative also reflects how tech companies are trying to become part of the learning process, especially as AI becomes more central to education and work.

    FIRST COUNTRY ROLLOUT

India is one of the first countries where Google is rolling out Gemini Advanced at scale for students. The company hasn’t mentioned any cap on the number of users for now.

Whether it’s for finishing assignments, building a resume, or exploring ideas, Gemini for Students is being pitched as a digital companion for the modern classroom.

In a report by Google and Kantar, it is highlighted that 75% of people in India feel that they require a daily tool to support them to learn and grow. Google says its AI chatbot, Gemini, is starting to fill that role for many.

The study also found that 95% of students using Gemini in India feel more confident in their everyday life.
