A SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Mumbai was significantly delayed on Monday after two unruly passengers attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit while the aircraft was taxiing.
Flight SG 9282, scheduled to depart at 12:30 pm, was preparing for takeoff when the incident occurred. According to a statement issued by SpiceJet, the passengers caused a disruption onboard and ignored repeated instructions from the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the Captain to return to their seats.
“On July 14, 2025, two unruly passengers were offloaded from SpiceJet flight SG 9282 operating from Delhi to Mumbai. The two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit and caused a disruption while the aircraft was taxiing. Despite repeated requests by the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the Captain, they refused to return to their seats.” a SpiceJet spokesperson said.
“In the interest of the safety of all passengers and crew, the Captain decided to return the aircraft to the bay,” the airline said. The two individuals were subsequently offloaded and handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the paramilitary force responsible for airport security.
The disruptive behaviour led to a nearly seven-hour delay, with the flight eventually departing at 7:21 pm, according to data from flight tracking service Flightradar24.com.
