Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes — who got together while still legally married to their ex-spouses — ironically offered some unfiltered advice to fan who was cheated on.
A woman wrote in to the couple’s “Ask Amy and T.J” Yahoo column asking if she should get back together with her boyfriend who cheated on her with her colleague.
They had broken up two years ago over the cheating, but she “noticed he’s been looking at [her] social media pages a lot” and asked the former “GMA3” anchors if she should give the relationship another shot.
“Should you go back to him? My answer is no,” Robach, 52, responded bluntly. “You broke up for a reason, and I don’t believe that someone cheats out of the blue. It obviously spoke to the quality of your relationship.”
“I don’t know what changed so dramatically about him, or what you think changed so dramatically about him,” she continued. “You were dating for five years and just starting to talk about marriage, and he didn’t have a job?”
The mom of two shared her doubts that the ex-boyfriend — despite now having a job and a pet — actually “changed” in the way the woman thinks he has.
Holmes, 47, shared the same sentiment and did not hold back in his response.
“All he did was like your posts? You’re reading tea leaves. Calm down,” he wrote as his initial response. “I think you might be making excuses for wanting him back … Have you been sitting around waiting for him for two years?”
“And now you think he’s improved because he’s got a f–king pet, and now he’s cool? I don’t think anything that you know of has actually changed about this man,” he added.
Robach changed her tune a bit, writing that she “would never tell someone not to give love another chance,” but warned the woman to “go into it with open eyes” if she decided to reach out to him.
The father of three remained firm in his answer that she should not open that door and should “raise” her standards.
“I think you’re looking for positives when you look at his social media. Job, apartment, pet — OK, welcome to adulthood, big deal!” he declared.
The couple’s advice comes after they were accused of having a months-long affair behind their respective partners’ backs in November 2022.
Their affair was exposed after the Daily Mail obtained photos of them holding hands in New York City in May 2022 — Robach was still legally married to Andrew Shue, and Holmes was married to Marilee Fiebig.
As Page Six reported, the duo were also seen looking flirty after landing in NYC from London the day after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.
“They have a very cozy relationship on air, but that is what is expected. But they were very careful behind the scenes to keep their affair secret. The producers at ‘GMA’ are shocked to hear they are having an affair,” a source told us at the time.
Page Six confirmed that Holmes filed for divorce from Fiebig after almost 13 years of marriage on Dec. 28, 2022. The 47-year-old was “blindsided” by his relationship with Robach and the two were allegedly trying to “work things out.”
Robach, meanwhile, divorced Shue in December 2022 following a “rocky” marriage. The divorce was finalized in March 2023, four months after her affair was laid bare.
Both journalists — who lost their jobs over the scandal — have long denied that they cheated.
“To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case,” the former CNN anchor claimed on their “Amy & T.J.” podcast in December 2023.
In another turn of events, Shue and Fiebig started dating in December 2023 after bonding over their relationships ending. The pair are still going strong and moved in together back in February.
The ex ABC anchors made headlines last month when they put on raunchy display at an event while “shocked” guests watched.
“They were talking to someone and T.J. was just putting his hand down her pants,” a source told Daily Mail. “From the top of her shorts, he was sliding his hand down to physically feel her butt.”
