The Hollywood Reporter can unveil the trailer for Daisy-May Hudson’s feature film debut Lollipop with Posy Sterling (The Outrun, Playing Nice), Idil Ahmed and TerriAnn Cousins (Top Boy, Silver Haze).

Set to hit U.K. theaters Jun. 13, Lollipop tells the story of a young mother, Molly (Sterling), who is released from prison after serving four months. “She assumes it will be a matter of hours before she can pick up her children from foster care,” a plot synopsis reads.

“Instead, Molly finds herself in the mother of all catch-22s: she can’t get housing because she doesn’t have her kids living with her; but she can’t get them back without a roof over her head.”

“When Molly reconnects with her childhood friend, and fellow single mother, Amina (Ahmed), the two women join forces and take destiny into their own hands.”

Set in east London and backed by BBC Film and the British Film Institute (awarding National Lottery funding), Lollipop is the debut of BAFTA breakthrough Daisy-May Hudson following her award-winning documentary Half Way.

Lollipop is produced by Olivier Kaempfer and Cecilia Frugiuele under their Parkville Pictures banner and received its world premiere at last year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival. Lucy Pardee (Aftersun, Bird) served as casting director.
