Anurag Kashyap, known for his candid views, recently commented that T-Series “doesn’t understand good music.” Reflecting on his experience, he shared that he wasn’t paid much for the music of Dev.D, despite its enduring popularity.
Anurag Kashyap opens up about T-Series: “If T-Series is not buying it, it is great music”
In an interview with The Juggernaut, Anurag Kashyap remarked, “If Bhushan Kumar (managing director of T-Series) is not buying it, then it is good music. If T-Series is not buying it, it is great music. T-Series doesn’t buy good music at a good price.”
Reflecting on his experience with the label, Anurag Kashyap shared, “They paid very little money for the music of Dev.D, Gangs of Wasseypur, and Gulaal, and they made a lot of money from the music of those films. They only pay for the star in it. They don’t pay for the quality of music. They paid nothing for Dev.D’s track despite the film’s music being one of the cult soundtracks.”
He further stated, “They don’t understand good music, and they will push only for a certain kind of music. They only pay for stars. The highest amount of money they have paid me was for Bombay Velvet, and the film’s music didn’t work for them, but they still paid a lot for Bombay Velvet.”
Anurag Kashyap also spoke about relocating from Mumbai and expressed contentment with the move. He shared, “I have moved out of Mumbai. It has been 4–5 months, and I am very happy. I don’t meet people who are constantly talking numbers. I have a different circle of people, and I have my books. I am back to how I was at the beginning.”
Anurag is currently promoting his upcoming film Nishaanchi.
