Star badminton player Saina Nehwal announced her decision to separate from long-time partner Parupalli Kashyap on Sunday, July 13. Saina took to Instagram to announce her decision via a brief statement. Saina and Parupalli separate after nearly 7 years of marriage.
Saina and Parupalli grew up together through the ranks of Indian badminton at the Pullela Gopichand academy in Hyderabad. While Saina became a global icon with her Olympic bronze and World No. 1 ranking, Kashyap carved his own legacy with a Commonwealth Games gold and consistent performances on the international stage.
“Life takes us in different directions sometimes. After much thought and consideration, Kashyap Parupalli and I have decided to part ways. We’re choosing peace, growth, and healing-for ourselves and each other. I’m grateful for the memories and wish nothing but the best moving forward. Thank you for understanding and respecting our privacy during this time,” Saina Nehwal announced a shock statement on late on Sunday night.
Kashyap on the other hand is yet to announce a statement of his own.
