A 19-year-old girl from Tripura has reportedly gone missing in Delhi under mysterious circumstances. A student of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College, Delhi University, Sneha Debnath last talked to her parents on July 7, according to news agency ANI.
Her family noted that she had not withdrawn any money from her bank account for the past four months and left without any belongings.
The mystery further deepened when she informed her family at 5:56 am that she would be going to Sarai Rohilla station with her friend, Pitunia. However, when her phone was unreachable after three hours, the family reached out to Pitunia, who informed them that she had not ended up meeting Sneha as planned.
Later on, Sneha’s family traced the cab driver, who confirmed dropping Sneha close to Delhi’s Signature Bridge. However, due to poor CCTV coverage, the police have not been able to trace Sneha’s activity since she got out of the cab.
Following her disappearance, the Delhi police, along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), has launched a massive search operation within a seven-kilometer radius. However, their search operation bore no results, even after a week.
The incident has prompted the intervention of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha. After the matter came to his notice, Chief Minister Manik Saha directed the police to take immediate action to locate Sneha.
Acknowledging the incident, the Tripura Chief Minister’s Office on X stated, “The report of Miss Sneha Debnath, a resident of Sabroom, who has reportedly gone missing in New Delhi, has come to the notice of the Chief Minister’s Office. Following this, necessary instructions have been promptly issued to the police to take immediate and appropriate action.”
