Amanda Anisimova said she was in “shock” after her defeat in the Wimbledon 2025 women’s final. On Saturday, July 12, Iga Swiatek claimed her sixth Grand Slam title with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 victory over Anisimova, wrapping up the match in just 57 minutes on Centre Court.

It marked only the second time in Grand Slam history that a final ended in a double bagel, the first being Steffi Graf’s 6-0, 6-0 win over Natasha Zvereva in the 1988 French Open.

Anisimova struggled to find her rhythm as Swiatek secured her first grass-court Grand Slam title. The American admitted the loss was “tough to digest,” adding that she hadn’t expected the final to unfold the way it did.

“It was a bit tough to digest obviously. Especially during and right after. It’s not how I would have wanted my first Grand Slam final to go. I think I was a bit in shock after as well. But I told myself I’ll definitely come out stronger after this,” Anisimova said in the post-match press conference.

“It’s not an easy thing to go through. Losing 6-0, 6-0 in a Grand Slam final. If anything I can look at it as a positive and something I can look at as motivation going forward. Obviously there’s a lot of things I need to do to progress,” Anisimova added.

Anisimova had several standout moments during the tournament, most notably in the semi-final, where she defeated World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka. With that victory, she became the youngest American woman to reach a Wimbledon singles final since Serena Williams in 2004.

Despite her loss to Swiatek in the final, there was still plenty for Anisimova to celebrate. She is set to make her debut in the WTA top 10 when the new rankings are released. A win in the final would have seen her rise as high as No.5.
