The vigilante killer is back! After a successful run of Dexter, the original series, followed by Dexter: New Blood, and Dexter: Original Sin, actor Michael C. Hall returns to the dark and twisted world of ‘Dexter Morgan’ with a brand new instalment, Dexter: Resurrection. The highly anticipated second sequel series has finally premiered today, July 12, 2025, in India. The first episode of Resurrection aired today on Amazon Prime Video as part of the Prime Day 2025 celebration.
This new chapter follows ‘Dexter’ as he makes a dramatic comeback after surviving a near-fatal gunshot from his son ‘Harrison’. However, he is not alone – besides fresh faces like Peter Dinklage, Uma Thurman, and Krysten Ritter, check out which key characters are making their comeback in this series. Be prepared for some bonus cameos, too!
Which characters from the original series are making their comeback to Dexter: Resurrection?
Of course, the first to return is the dark and twisted protagonist himself. Michael C. Hall reprises his career-defining role as ‘Dexter Morgan’, the infamous ‘Bay Harbour Butcher’ whose very name sent chills through Miami in the original series. After waking from a coma, ‘Dexter’ finds his son ‘Harrison’ gone, and he sets out to track him down in New York City. And before realising, he gets drawn into a dangerous web involving a billionaire serial killer.
The next to return is ‘Harrison’ (played by Jack Alcott), who disappeared after pulling the trigger on his father in New Blood. Now, ‘Dexter’ is on a mission to track him down, and it’s only a matter of waiting to dive deep into the father-son trauma.
James Remar also reprises his role as Dexter’s deceased father and moral compass, who was previously seen in Original Sin, offering advice from beyond the grave. However, unlike the younger version of ‘Harry’ in the prequel, this time, Remar returns to guide Dexter in what is being called his most emotional journey yet.

The next to return to the series is David Zayas as ‘Angel Batista’, the ever-loyal detective from Miami Metro. However, there’s a possibility that this time, ‘Angel’ could pivot from a friend to a threat, as he is bent on exposing ‘Dexter’s true identity.
David Magidoff, who won hearts with his role as ‘Officer Teddy Reed’ in New Blood, is back this season. He will play a vital role in assisting ‘Dexter’ as he finds his way back to society. Fans can likewise expect both comic relief and heartfelt tension as ‘Teddy’ navigates the legal grey areas that ‘Dexter’ tends to disregard.
Expect some bonus cameos of ghosts from the past
The premiere has cleverly reintroduced some dead characters, such as ‘Arthur Mitchell’, aka ‘The Trinity Killer’ (John Lithgow), ‘Miguel Prado’ (Jimmy Smits), ‘James Doakes’ (Erik King), and more in ‘Dexter’s coma dreamscape. This detail has surely offered cryptic wisdom as well as heavily nostalgic moments for loyal fans of the series.
Like its previous instalments, Dexter: Resurrection also promises a blood-soaked redemption arc, blending psychological drama with moral ambiguity and jaw-dropping twists. Expect even more bloodshed as Dexter embarks on his journey to find his son and navigate his way back to society, with old friends turning into enemies.
With the first episode of Dexter: Resurrection live on Amazon Prime Video, the question remains: can ‘Dexter’ escape his past, or is the hunter destined to become the hunted once again?
