Jannik Sinner has put to rest any concerns regarding his fitness ahead of Sunday’s Wimbledon 2025 final against Carlos Alcaraz, clarifying that his elbow is not an issue and he is “ready to go” for the championship clash.

The world No. 1 sparked speculation after appearing to struggle with his right elbow during his fourth-round match against Grigor Dimitrov. Sinner was trailing by two sets when the Bulgarian retired due to a pectoral injury, handing the Italian a pass to the quarterfinals. Questions remained over whether Sinner was carrying a niggle that could affect his deep run at the All England Club.

However, speaking after his commanding semifinal win over Novak Djokovic, Sinner said the elbow had improved steadily over the week and posed no threat to his Wimbledon title hopes.

“No issue for Sunday,” Sinner assured in the post-match press conference. “As I said after playing Ben [Shelton], there are no excuses. We are handling this small problem very well. I was more concerned about the quarterfinal. Today I felt good, even in the warm-up.”

Sinner showed no signs of discomfort during his straight-sets demolition of Djokovic, one of the most clinical performances of his career. With that victory, he not only reached his maiden Wimbledon final but also achieved the rare feat of reaching the final in all four Grand Slams — something only tennis greats like Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have accomplished.

The 22-year-old Italian has been in sensational form this season, barring the blip against Dimitrov. But he faces arguably his toughest test yet in Alcaraz, who is bidding to win his third straight Wimbledon title and cement his status as one of the sport’s modern greats.

The blockbuster final on Sunday promises a generational battle between the top two seeds — a fitting climax to another enthralling edition of Wimbledon. Alcaraz may have the odds going in his favour but Sinner can be a tough opponent to deal with if someone lets the foot off the gas.
