Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut expressed her disapproval of actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh’s collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in ‘Sardaar Ji 3’. In an interview with Times Now, she didn’t take his name, but said, “some genuinely have their own agenda” and emphasised that “everybody is a stakeholder” in nation-building. She questioned why different individuals, including Dosanjh, appear to follow their own paths rather than a unified national one.

Ranaut elaborated on her stance, stating, “I’ve said enough about these people. At the beginning of our conversation, I pointed out that we need to have a sentiment of nation building – everybody is a stakeholder. Why don’t we have that sentiment? Why is Diljit having his own path? Even a soldier has his own path of nationalism.” She called for a collective effort to align all citizens towards a singular patriotic goal.

The film ‘Sardaar Ji 3’, featuring Dosanjh and Hania Aamir, was released overseas but not in India, due to a government ban on Pakistani artists. The release has sparked controversy, especially in light of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. In defence, Diljit Dosanjh mentioned he had no influence over the film’s release timing, as it was completed before the attack took place.

Ranaut criticised the variance in personal agendas among public figures, stating, “Somebody is having this, the poor soldier is having the path of nationalism, the poor politician is having the path of nationalism. Some genuinely have their own agenda. We must try to align everybody.” The ongoing dialogue has highlighted the tension between artistic collaboration and national sentiment.

The controversy surrounding ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ and its cast reflects broader industry challenges concerning international collaborations, especially amid geopolitical tensions. Ranaut’s comments underscore a recurring debate in Bollywood about balancing freedom of artistic expression with patriotic responsibilities.
