Zayed Khan recently opened up about his experience working on his 2005 action thriller Dus, revealing the collaborative creative process that helped make the film a major success. He disclosed that his involvement extended beyond just acting, as he actively contributed to the film’s distinctive visual storytelling approach. Drawing inspiration from Howard Humfrey’s Dragon Strike, Zayed had suggested to director Anubhav Sinha to incorporate timestamp graphics that became a signature element of the film’s visuals, adding a sense of urgency and international espionage authenticity that resonated with audiences.

Zayed revealed, “Dus was just an amazing film to be in. I was involved with Dus on a script level also. I remember I had read this film called Dragon Strike by Howard Humfrey, and it has these timestamp supers in it like Washington DC, 09 Hours, President’s Protocol, etc. When Anubhav (Sinha) was narrating the story, I said, ‘Anubhav, can we like do it like this because it’s coming into the zone?’ Anubhav really liked my involvement. Directors, when you give them the right impetus and the right involvement, they feed off that energy. Anubhav is a very sorted director. He really understands the pulse, he knows the moments, he knows where to create the action, the therav, the spunk – he knows it.”

The actor also recognised Anubhav Sinha’s directorial prowess, calling him “a very sorted director” who possesses an intuitive understanding of cinematic rhythm. Clearly, their collaborative relationship ultimately contributed to crafting a film that resonated with audiences and established Dus as a memorable entry in Bollywood’s action thriller genre, and Zayed firmly as an action hero. On the work front, Zayed is all set to make his digital debut with The Film That Never Was (TFTNW).
