Japanese manga series, Shinchan, has always been an iconic one, and there’s no second thought about this. Mainly, the ’90s kid vividly remembers the way Sinchan would take us to his world, be it with his mischievousness or antics. After its re-dubbing took place for release in India, it became one of the most popular cartoons back in those times, even more than Doraemon.

Shinchan was originally a Japanese series, which was released in 45 countries and was dubbed in over 30 languages. Recently, internet users became all kinds of nostalgic as a travel influencer gave us a sneak peek into Shinchan’s real-life school in Japan, and oh boy, we bet no one can stop gushing over it. Taking to his IG handle, travel vlogger, Nikhil Tripathi, who resides in Tokyo, shared a glimpse of Shinchan’s real-life school.

Let’s have a tour of Shinchan Nohara’s real-life school in Japan

For the unversed, in Japan’s Awaji Island, one can experience Sinchan’s world. Yes! The island provides Shinchan paglus and anime lovers with the opportunity to experience the cartoon world in real life, from his pink-kitten bus, to Futaba Kindergarten school, and merchandise shops, as well as Shinchan-themed food. However, Nikhil recently travelled to Futaba school and, through a reel, showcased how the cartoonish prop had come to life, and it was unbelievable. It felt like we were actually watching the original models from the cartoon.

We could have a glimpse of the pink kitten bus, in which Shinchan used to ride. In front of the school, huge statues were made, including Shinchan, Yoshinaka Ma’am, and other characters. We could also see the sunflower classroom, whose walls were painted with the drawings made by Shinchan and his friends, as shown on TV. We could also witness a cardboard maze being made in the school, wherein one can play hide and seek, just like the way we used to watch on TV. Everything about the real-life Futaba Kindergarten school was just like what we had grown up seeing in Shinchan’s world, and the 30-second video made us forget that we have grown up.

    More about Shinchan

For those who don’t know, Shinchan first came into being as ‘Crayon Shin-Chan’, which was published in 1990 in a weekly Japanese magazine called Weekly Manga Action. The comic series was written by Yoshito Usui, and the company which would publish the comic was Futabasha. The OG comic ended back in 2009. After Usui died, his team started to publish another version of the series named ‘New Crayon Shin-Chan’. The cartoon version first aired in 1992, and it’s still ongoing with 1267 episodes so far. If the reports are to be believed, a total of 148 million copies of this series were sold by 2023.

Shinchan was based on a real-life kid who died?

Several reports have claimed that Shinchan was not originally meant for kids, and it was supposed to be for adults, as it was decided to incorporate some dark humour. However, kids loved it so much that it was released for kids only. It’s also said that Shinchan was based on the story of a real kid, who was 5 years old and died. However, later, it was revealed that the OG creator of the comic, Usui, himself mentioned that it was a fictional character, and through Sinchan, he just wanted to show how he wished to be in his childhood.
