Saanvikaa has become synonymous with Panchayat. As Pradhan’s daughter Rinki, she has left a huge mark. However, not many are aware that she has worked on other projects as well. Her IMDb profile stated that she was a part of Qaidi Band (2017), produced by Aditya Chopra-owned Yash Raj Films (YRF). In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, Saanvikaa opened up about her role in this film.

Saanvikaa said, “In Qaidi Band, I played a small character of a journalist. It was a 14-day shoot. 2 songs were shot during those 14 days and as a reporter, I had to mostly stand and see the characters performing. In other scenes, I had 2-3 dialogues.”
She added, “This experience gave me a lot of confidence. Firstly, Yash Raj treats their actors very well, even if they are shooting with them for just a day or two. Secondly, director Habib Faisal was so kind. He encouraged me. I don’t think he’ll remember me. But the way he appreciated me, I decided that I wanted to go ahead in this industry. Before that, I was trying my luck. When someone appreciates you, then it gives you hope and hope is the only thing that helps you move forward.”
Qaidi Band launched newcomers Aadar Jain and Anya Singh. As the title suggests, it is about a music band formed by prison inmates.
When asked how she landed the role and whether YRF’s famous casting director Shanoo Sharma auditioned her, Saanvikaa replied, “No. Since it was not a primary role, the audition took place in Aram Nagar. I underwent 3-4 rounds of auditions. They liked it a lot, particularly my voice. They remarked, ‘Ek journalist ki jo bhaari awaaz hoti hai, woh tum mein hai’. The final round of the audition took place in the YRF office where Habib sir was present. He approved it and that’s how I bagged the part.”
Is there anything else in Saanvikaa’s pipeline? She answered, “I am working on two more projects right now in the OTT space. I’ll talk about it when they are ready or are about to be released. Thankfully, I am getting better opportunities and better roles now.”
Panchayat was recently renewed for the fifth season. It is streamed on Amazon Prime Video, which announced last year that they’ll be coming up with a film on their other popular show, Mirzapur. Can we expect a ‘Panchayat The Film’ in the near future? After all, watching the antics of Phulera residents amid collective laughter in a cinema hall would be a memorable experience.
Saanvikaa smiled when she heard this suggestion but pointed out, “I think that there are so many characters in the film that I don’t know how they’ll be able to fit in a three-hour-long film. Nevertheless, it is always in the hands of the makers. Maybe, they might plan a film on Panchayat in future. I have no idea. It would surely be exciting to see myself and the rest of the cast on the big screen for sure.”
