Fans of Amitabh Bachchan felt disappointed when rumours about the Bollywood icon stepping down from Kaun Banega Crorepati surfaced in May this year. Although it was rumoured that Salman Khan might replace Big B as the host, Amitabh Bachchan has now confirmed that he remains connected with the quiz-based reality show.
Amitabh Bachchan shuts down rumours, confirms hosting the new season of Kaun Banega Crorepati
On Wednesday, Amitabh Bachchan posted on his official blog, revealing that he has begun preparations for the upcoming season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. The seasoned actor shared rehearsal photos and wrote, “Shuru kardiya kaam.”
Amitabh then expressed his happiness about returning to work with people who are making a difference in lives and added, “and the prep begins the beguine…to be back to the people..to be with them in their desires to improve life and livings…the opportunity that changes lives .. in an hour…my love and regard.”
On April 4, Sony TV announced Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 with a promo video starring Amitabh Bachchan. In the promo, Amitabh played a patient suffering from a stomachache, signaling the show’s comeback. He also informed that registrations for KBC 17 were open and urged fans to register through the Sony LIV app, SMS, or IVR calls. While the exact premiere date remains undisclosed, KBC 17 is anticipated to premiere in August.
However, in May, Bollywood Hungama reported that Amitabh Bachchan was leaving KBC due to “personal reasons.” The portal stated that Salman Khan was in advanced negotiations with the show’s producers and was expected to assume hosting responsibilities from Big B starting with season 17.
“Get ready to tune into Sony as Salman Khan might host the biggest and most popular quiz show of India as Amitabh Bachchan will be stepping back from KBC due to personal reasons,” a source quoted by the entertainment portal stated.
For those unaware, Amitabh Bachchan has hosted KBC since it began in 2000, with the exception of the third season, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan.
