US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that he will announce something trade-related with at least seven countries on Wednesday morning, while additional countries will be named in the afternoon. In a message posted to his social media platform, Trump revealed plans to name “a minimum of 7 countries” in a new trade-related development to be released Wednesday morning.

“We will be releasing a minimum of 7 countries having to do with trade tomorrow morning, with an additional number of countries being released in the afternoon. Thank you for your attention to this matter!,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. However, Trump did not specify whether he would be announcing trade deals or tariff letters.

Earlier, Trump reiterated his plan to impose a 10 per cent tariff on goods from Brics nations, asserting that the bloc was created to undermine American interests. Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump stated, “Anybody that’s in BRICS is getting a 10 per cent charge pretty soon.” This follows a White House announcement the previous day that Trump views the Brics alliance as a growing threat to US interests and is committed to ensuring the US is “fairly treated on the world stage.”

On Monday, Trump announced a sweeping 25 percent tariff on imports from South Korea and Japan, asserting this rate was “far less” than needed to rectify America’s trade deficit with both nations. Within hours, he expanded these tariffs to twelve additional countries — Myanmar, Laos, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Tunisia, Indonesia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bangladesh, Serbia, Cambodia, and Thailand — framing the move as a broader effort to correct “unfair trade imbalances.”

The new duties, conveyed through letters to foreign leaders posted on Trump’s Truth Social account, will take effect on August 1st. Trump warned that any retaliatory tariffs would trigger further duty increases from the United States.
