1. Pedro Pascal and Sarah Paulson formed a close friendship back in the early ‘90s when they were teenagers living in New York, and before either of them had shot to worldwide fame. Pedro even recently revealed that Sarah helped him out financially and let him use her sister’s car when he was struggling to break through as an actor.
2. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet have remained super close since playing onscreen lovers in the 1997 classic Titanic — to the point that he even walked her down the aisle at her 2012 wedding to Edward Abel Smith.
3. Speaking of Leo, the actor has also remained super close with Tobey Maguire over the years. The pair met when they were teenagers, and became friends after Leo recognized Tobey from various auditions and called out to him in the street: “I was like, ‘Tobey! Tobey! Hey! Hey!’ And he was like, ‘Oh, yeah — I know you. You’re…that guy.’ But I just made him my pal. When I want someone to be my friend, I just make them my friend.”
4. Ever since starring together in the 1998 rom-com The Wedding Singer, Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore have remained besties — and worked together a bunch more times. Last year, Drew said of their friendship: “We’re so close. We text all the time. We see each other, we text.”
5. And Adam is also incredibly close with none other than Jennifer Aniston, whom he met at a deli in the ’90s, while she was dating one of his friends. In 2023, Jen revealed that Adam and his wife, Jackie Sandler, send her a bouquet of flowers every single Mother’s Day following her fertility struggle, which she has been open about.
6. Jennifer is also still suuuuper close with her Friends costar Courteney Cox; when Court turned 60 last year, Jen penned the sweetest tribute, writing in part, “Celebrating this powerful, magical, mystical, interesting, interested, ferociously talented girl today!!! My sweet CC… she’s funny like no other, STUNNING on the inside and out. Independent in the most gorgeous way, cares for everyone even if she doesn’t know you… Fiercely loyal to the end… I can’t imagine a world without her. It’s one of my great honors to call her one of my best friends for life.”
7. Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King have been friends for almost 50 (!!!!!) years. They instantly bonded while they were both working at Baltimore’s WJZ station back in the ‘70s after Oprah invited Gayle to stay at her house for the night when a snowstorm left her stranded.
8. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are famously childhood best friends, having grown up literally a block and a half away from each other in Boston. They vowed to help each other out when it came to making it in Hollywood, with Ben explaining in 2023: “We were going to help each other and be there for each other… It was like, ‘You’re not going to be alone. I’m not going to be alone. Let’s go out there and do this together.’”
9. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have been friends for over 30 years; they met while both doing comedy in Chicago back in the ‘90s and, of course, went on to work together on Saturday Night Live and several movies.
10. Naomi Watts and Nicole Kidman met in their teen years, before either of them were household names. Naomi recalled last year, “We dreamed the same dreams, pretty much laying the road map to where we are now here in Los Angeles, decades deep into our friendship. So, we met in a waiting room for a casting call…We started chatting. We covered everything – what movies we loved, what friends we had in common, our parents, schools, parties, boyfriends, teenage stuff, you know?” Naomi later added that after the audition, Nicole let her share her taxi ride home when she missed her last bus.
11. Salma Hayek and Penélope Cruz’s friendship has spanned more than two decades, with Salma recently describing Penélope as her lifelong “partner.”
12. One of the more unlikely friendships on this list, yet undoubtedly one of the most wholesome, is Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart’s. They met in 2008 after the rapper appeared on her cooking show, and they’ve since worked on several more projects, with Snoop once describing her as his “homegirl” and noting that their “special bond” goes “way back.”
13. And finally, Steve Martin and Martin Short met back in 1986, and have remained super close over the years. They currently star together in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, along with Selena Gomez.
