A couple originally from Kerala has gone missing from Bengaluru after allegedly defrauding hundreds of investors in a multi-crore chit fund scheme. The pair, identified as Tomy and Shiny, were operating A&A Chits and Finance, a firm based in the city’s Ramamurthy Nagar, which promised high monthly returns and cultivated trust over more than two decades.
According to complaints, the couple had been running the firm for around 25 years, luring investors by offering returns of 15 to 20 per cent. Many victims are believed to have invested their life savings, with some even selling properties in the hope of securing steady financial gains. For several years, the firm reportedly delivered returns on time, which further strengthened its credibility within the investor community.
However, payments allegedly stopped in recent months, and both Tomy and Shiny became unreachable. As anxiety spread among depositors, many of whom had invested substantial sums, attempts to contact the couple proved futile. It is suspected that the duo may have liquidated their assets and fled the city.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in connection with the case. Police have begun a search operation to trace the couple and recover the money owed to the defrauded investors. Authorities are also examining financial records and other evidence linked to the firm’s operations as part of the investigation.
