After a string of underwhelming performances at the box office, actress Kangana Ranaut took a major turn in her career by entering politics. In June 2024, she became a Member of Parliament from Mandi. Since then, she has remained vocal about her political affiliation and often uses social media to campaign for her party. However, in a recent interview, Kangana admitted that her foray into politics hasn’t brought her much satisfaction.

Speaking to spiritual guru Atman in Ravi (AIR), the Queen actress reflected on both her political role and her spiritual transformation. She revealed that she was once a staunch atheist but has gradually embarked on a spiritual journey. On her experience as an MP, she candidly shared, “I’m getting the hang of it. I wouldn’t say that I’m enjoying it. It’s a very different kind of work — more like social service. This hasn’t been my background. I never thought of serving people.”
The Tanu Weds Manu actress continued, “I’ve fought for women’s rights, but that’s different. Someone comes to me saying their drain is broken, and I’m like, ‘But I’m an MP, and these are panchayat-level issues.’ They don’t care. When they see you, they come with problems like broken roads. I tell them that’s a state government issue, and they say, ‘You have money, use your own money.’”
When asked if she has aspirations to become Prime Minister someday, the 39-year-old actress responded with striking honesty. “I pray that never happens,” she said. “I don’t think I’m competent to be the PM of India, nor do I have the necessary passion or inclination. Social work has never been my background. I’ve lived a very selfish kind of life — I wanted a big house, a big car, diamonds. I wanted to look good.”
Calling her new phase in life a “genesis,” she added, “I don’t know what purpose God has chosen me for, but I don’t see my life as some grand sacrifice. I don’t fancy that kind of life, and I don’t wish it upon anyone. I don’t have it in me.”
Speaking of the professional front, she was last seen in Emergency. She has not announced any of her upcoming projects, except for a few, including a psychological thriller with R Madhavan.
