A woman, along with her lover, murdered her paralysed husband, who she believed was obstructing their extramarital affair. The duo has been arrested.

The victim, 38-year-old Chandrasen Balkrishna Ramteke, was living with his family when he suffered a paralytic stroke around 18 months ago. Since then, he remained at home while his wife, Disha Chandrasen Ramteke, started a water plant business to run the household.

During this period, Disha came in contact with a local mechanic, Asif Ansari alias Raja Babu Tyrewala. The two developed an illicit relationship. Over time, Chandrasen began to grow suspicious of his wife’s changing behaviour, which led to frequent arguments at home. Frustrated by this, Disha and her lover conspired to murder him.

On the afternoon of July 4, while Chandrasen was sleeping at home, Disha and Asif allegedly suffocated him using a pillow, pressing it against his face and neck until he died.

After committing the murder, Disha left the house and returned two hours later. She then took her husband to a government hospital with the help of neighbours and spread false information about his death.

Initially, the police registered the case as an accidental death. However, the post-mortem report revealed the real cause, uncovering the murder plot.

“There were several marks of injuries on the victim’s body around his neck,” said Rashmita Rao, Deputy Commissioner of Police.

An autopsy report confirmed that Chandrasen Ramteke was suffocated to death using a pillow. Following the report, police booked the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and arrested both Disha and her lover, Asif Ansari.
