American reality TV dating show on Peacock, Love Island, is currently running on its seventh season. For the unversed, in this show, contestants with their relationship status being single live together in a tropical villa, wherein they form bonds and romantic connections. Each week, they face challenges, twists, and games, followed by public voting, and this season, one of the pairs, Cierra Ortega and Nic Vansteenberghe, has been winning hearts.
However, it all ended as on the 30th episode it was announced that Cierra has exited the show for ‘personal reasons’. This update has shocked the viewers, including Nic, since it was abrupt.

While nothing other than ‘personal reason’ was cited on Cierra Ortega’s exit from Love Island 7, people have been wondering if it happened due to her recent social media activity. For the unversed, one of Cierra’s old videos reportedly resurfaced, wherein she was allegedly seen making some questionable remarks on Asians, which was tagged under ‘racism’ by netizens, leading the influencer to face the wrath and trolling.
Cierra is yet to speak on the matter, but the way she abruptly left the show, made people somewhat believe that she was thrown out of the show due to this only. An insider from the show told the US Sun that the comments that were made by Cierra are unacceptable, and this was the same reason for which another star from the show was thrown out. The insider said:
“This kind of language is unacceptable… We kicked Yulissa out for racial slurs too.”

In two of her posts from 2020 and 2015, Cierra Ortega said something that posed a major question. After she started gaining fame through Love Island, the old video made rounds on social media, leaving people angered. In her old posts, she made a comment that felt crooked towards the East Asian people, and listening to this, people went furious and started slamming her. While in one of her posts, she said, “Still chkin’ at the top,” another post was referred to as a smile. This led her to lose a total of 200,000 followers in just 48 hours. Cierra’s comment could be read as:
“I can also be a little ch**y when I laugh/smile so I love getting a mini brow lift.”

While the reason for Cierra’s absence has been cited as ‘personal reason’, people have stated that it might have been caused by her comments. This is not the first time that someone has been thrown out of a show for a racial comment. Even before this, Yulissa Escobar was removed for her racial comments. She was ousted from the show as one of her old clips from a podcast resurfaced. She later apologised for her comments through her social media post.
Cierra Ortega’s parents react to her exit from Love Island 7
After her exit from the show, Cierra Ortega’s parents took to her social media handle and reacted to their daughter’s exit from the show. Her parents stated that while Cierra hasn’t seen anything that’s going on yet, they have seen it, and wouldn’t ignore the same. They also mentioned that what had happened was not right, but it was in the past, and currently, the behaviour that Cierra has been getting online has been beyond explanation. Cierra’s parents further revealed that they believe that their daughter would handle the situation with utmost grace after she returns, and they also requested privacy for them.
