Actor Pankaj Tripathi, aka ‘Kaleen Bhaiya’ from the popular action crime thriller, has just dropped a major update regarding the highly anticipated movie version of Mirzapur. The Criminal Justice actor, in a recent interview, just hinted that the makers might be beginning the shoot for Mirzapur: The Film within a few months. Following the massive success of Mirzapur 3, this update only fuels the already blazing excitement around India’s most iconic crime thriller franchise, this time, taking a leap from OTT to the silver screen.

Pankaj Tripathi says Mirzapur: The Film’s shoot could begin in a month

In a recent interview with Zoom, the fan-favourite ‘Kaleen Bhaiya’, Pankaj Tripathi, gave a nod to the buzz surrounding the possibility of a film version of Mirzapur. The actor, who just came back from his break in Lucknow with his family, shared that he couldn’t state the exact timeline, but Mirzapur: The Film’s shoot might start in a month or so. This minor hint was more than enough to spark celebration among Mirzapur loyalists. Pankaj said:

“Mujhe kuch pata nahi hai, main Lucknow mein tha, parivarik manoranjan kar raha tha. Mujhe zyada idea nahi hai, lekin suna hai ek aadh mahine mein shuru hone wala hai.”

Mirzapur: The Film – what we know so far

Before Pankaj Tripathi’s recent revelation, there was an update shared by Mirzapur’s co-producer, Farhan Akhtar, back in October 2024. The ZNMD actor took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and officially announced the film with a short teaser and a power-packed caption that read:

“Ab bhaukaal bhi bada hoga, aur parda bhi. #MirzapurTheFilm, coming soon.”

When this becomes a reality, Mirzapur: The Film will mark a historic moment in the Indian entertainment industry, as it will be the first-ever Indian OTT series to be adapted into a film. The makers, Excel Entertainment, are pulling out all the stops to make it a grand cinematic experience for the show’s loyal fans. If all goes well, the film will be released in 2026.

Mirzapur Season 4 has also been confirmed 

Pankaj Tripathi, who is currently bathing in the success of his back-to-back releases, Criminal Justice 4 and Metro… In Dino, shared another update about Mirzapur. Speaking to Zoom, the actor confirmed that the much-awaited Season 4 of the web series is in the works and expected to drop next year. He said:

“Mirzapur ka agla season next year.”

A brief recap of Mirzapur Season 3

Mirzapur Season 3 ended with a nail-biting cliffhanger, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. With ‘Guddu’ (Ali Fazal) ascending to the throne and ‘Kaleen Bhaiya’ (Pankaj Tripathi) plotting revenge, the fate of ‘Munna’ (Divyendu Sharma) is still shrouded in mystery. Fans were especially intrigued by the bonus episode on Instagram earlier this year, featuring Divyenndu’s ‘Munna Bhaiya’ as a narrator, hinting that (spoiler alert!) he might not be gone for good after all. Given the high-stakes situation at which the season wrapped up, viewers can expect even more bloodshed, dark humour, and dhoom-dhaam.
