The OnePlus Summer Launch Event is set for July 8, where the company will unveil their upcoming Nord products — the OnePlus Nord 5, and Nord CE 5, along with the wireless Buds 4. With just a few days to go, the company has already confirmed several important details about the new devices. Some of the key highlights include upgraded camera sensors, faster processors, along with massive battery improvements. While the official pricing hasn’t been revealed yet, early hints suggest that OnePlus is aiming to deliver flagship-level features without the premium price tag. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming OnePlus Nord 5 series.
OnePlus Nord 5, Nord CE 5: Everything we know so far
The OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 will be officially launched on July 8 at 2 PM IST. Sales will follow shortly after, with the Nord 5 becoming available on July 9 and the Nord CE 5 on July 12. The launch event will also include the new OnePlus Buds 4 wireless earphones.
The OnePlus Nord 5 is confirmed to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which is based on a 4nm architecture and paired with LPDDR5X RAM. This marks the first time a Nord device is using a Snapdragon 8-series chip. The Nord CE 5, on the other hand, will use the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 Apex chip. Built on the same 4nm process, it features an octa-core CPU and a 6-core Mali-G615 GPU, which OnePlus claims offers a significant improvement in gaming and graphics-heavy tasks.
Camera performance is getting a major boost as well. The OnePlus Nord 5 will feature a 50-megapixel rear camera, utilising the LYT-700 sensor, previously seen in the OnePlus 13 series, while the front camera will use a 50-megapixel JN5 sensor with autofocus. The phone will support 4K video recording at 60fps on both cameras and come with an updated Live Photo feature that captures motion shots in Ultra HDR.
The OnePlus Nord CE 5 will also get a decent camera setup, with a 50-megapixel main rear sensor and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. For selfies and video calls, the front will feature a 16-megapixel camera. While not as high-end as the Nord 5’s camera system, it still looks like a solid offering for its segment.
One of the standout features of the OnePlus Nord CE 5 is its huge 7,100mAh battery. According to OnePlus, it can be charged from 1 per cent to 100 per cent in just 59 minutes using the included 80W fast charger. Battery details for the Nord 5 haven’t been shared yet, but it’s likely to offer fast charging and a sizeable capacity as well.
Design-wise, both phones are expected to come with flat OLED displays and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Nord 5 could feature a 1.5K resolution panel, while the Nord CE 5 is tipped to include a 6.77-inch screen. An under-display fingerprint sensor is also expected on both models.
As with the OnePlus Buds 4, the new wireless earphones will feature dual drivers, dual DAC, LHDC 5.0 support, 3D audio, and will come in two colours: Zen Green and Storm Grey. They’ll also offer ultra-low latency of just 47ms in Game Mode, which could appeal to mobile gamers.
Pricing will be confirmed at launch, but early reports suggest the Nord 5 might land somewhere between Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000, with the Nord CE 5 expected to cost around Rs 25,000.
