Deceased Raja Raghuvanshi, who was murdered allegedly by his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi and her lover, Raj Kushwaha, paid the price for his innocence. The family has been dealing with the loss until now, but a new set of events took place. Raja’s sister, Shrasti Raghuvanshi, has been summoned by the crime branch of the Guwahati Police about an alleged defamatory comment made against the famous Kamakhya Temple. The controversy came into the light when, in a TV interview, the news anchor made unverified and highly defamatory comments on the Kamakhya Temple, which is one of the pious Shakti Peethas in India.
Shrasti Raghuwanshi summoned over derogatory remarks on the Kamakhya Temple
When the police investigated the matter, it was found that Shrasti reportedly, during the interview, gave support to the claims made by the news anchor, and in this way, she hurt the sentiments of the devotees who believed in Maa Kamakhya. Shrasti, with her statements, has been accused of disturbing the peace of a particular clan. This came after the suspects who had been named in the case failed to appear for the questioning that was scheduled. Ankur Jain, joint police commissioner from the Guwahati City Police, stated to the press that read:
“The statements are against the revered temple of Hindu deity Maa Kamakhya of Assam, thereby hurting the religious sentiments of a particular community and disturbing public peace and communal harmony in the society. Hence, the case registered.”
A formal case has been registered against Raja Raghuvanshi’s sister, Shrasti
Now, the Guwahati police has taken the investigation matter ahead into the alleged defamatory statements made against the Kamakhya Temple. Reportedly, the Crime Branch has registered a formal case (no. 04/2025) under sections 196(2)/299/302 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023. A TV news anchor, along with Shrasti, sister of the late Raja, have been targeted over their controversial comments made during the broadcast interview that took place. The Joint Police Commissioner, Ankur Jain, even shared that the investigating officer had issued notice on June 13, 2025, under section of 35(3) of BNSS when the alleged accused did not come on June 23, 2025, and June 24, 2025, at the Crime Branch police station. The summoned targets did not report to the department for the grilling.
Shrasti Raghuvanshi’s brother, Vipin, opens up about the summons
Shrashti’s brother, Vipin, in a media statement, addressed the summons and said that the family was trying to cooperate with the instructions of the cops. He shared that the police had told them to apologise, which they did, and that his sister was told to produce all the evidence, and that the notice came 15 days ago from the Assam Police. Vipin also shared that police may have that she is trying to divert attention due to her social media following. Vipin shared:
“Due to the reel on Instagram, Shrasti’s followers are increasing, which has led the police to suspect that she is diverting the investigation in another direction.”

Shrasti in the past via her Instagram account, had created awareness related to the demise of her brother, Raja, that allegedly happened at the hands of his wife in the form of a cold-blooded murder. Shrasti has also been accused by many social media users of exploiting the tragedy of her family just to take a few likes on the pictures and videos.
