Late last month, we got a good look at the upcoming Samsung foldables in a series of leaked renders. One of the standout colours was a deep, rich blue — which looks to be the hero colour this year. And now, in a new leak, that same blue shade seems to be confirmed, as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has appeared in live images online. These photos, shared by tipster @Jukanlosreve and reported by Android Headlines, give us a proper glimpse of the actual hardware — not just renders — and there’s quite a bit to take in.
The first thing that stands out is the colour. The blue variant, likely to be officially called Blue Shadow, looks every bit as striking in real-life photos as it did in the earlier renders. It’s subtle but classy, and similar to the blue shade Samsung used for its Galaxy S24 series in 2024. The second major takeaway from the leak is the design. The Galaxy Fold 7 is clearly slimmer and sleeker than before. While we don’t have precise measurements from the live images, earlier reports have pegged the phone’s thickness at just 3.9mm to 4.5mm when unfolded — easily making it Samsung’s thinnest foldable yet.
Another interesting detail from the leaked photos is the rear camera layout. There are three cameras stacked vertically, placed on a noticeable island at the top-left corner. This layout isn’t dramatically different from last year’s Fold 6, but what is different is the removal of the under-display camera. According to the report, Samsung may be going back to regular hole-punch selfie cameras on both the inner and outer displays — a move that might improve image quality, even if it slightly affects aesthetics.
The upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also expected to be lighter. Reports suggest the phone could weigh around 215 grams — that’s 24 grams lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, and even lighter than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Sounds quite impressive.
Apart from the design changes, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to come with a 6.5-inch cover screen and a larger 8.2-inch inner display. Under the hood, Samsung is likely to use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip paired with up to 12GB RAM and at least 256GB of internal storage.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also reported to feature an upgraded 200-megapixel primary rear camera, quite possibly the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 Edge. The other two cameras are expected to be a do-over from the Galaxy Z Fold 6.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, is expected to make its debut at the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event, rumoured to take place on July 9 in New York. Other announcements could include the Galaxy Watch 8 series and Samsung’s first Fan Edition foldable — the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE — though nothing has been confirmed officially yet.
