NEW DELHI: Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections solo. The dates for the polls are still not out. The declaration was made during his visit to Gujarat, underscoring the party’s ambitions to broaden its national footprint.Speaking at a press conference, Kejriwal said, ““AAP will contest Bihar polls solo. INDIA bloc was only for Lok Sabha polls, no alliance with Congress now. If there was an alliance then why did Congress contest in Visavadar bypolls. They came to defeat us. BJP sent Congress to defeat us and cut the votes. ”AAP’s leader Kejriwal has intensified efforts for party expansion following their victories in Visavadar and Ludhiana Assembly constituencies in Gujarat and Punjab last month. These wins, though modest, provided a significant boost to the party’s morale, particularly after recent challenges in Delhi. This is not the the first time when AAP planned to participate in election solo. Earlier, in Delhi election also, the party chose to go solo. The AAP experienced a considerable defeat earlier this year when it lost control of Delhi’s administration. This loss enabled the BJP to regain power in the national capital after an absence of nearly 27 years.
