The preview of Ramayana: The Introduction was held at Mumbai’s PVR IMAX Lower Parel and was a memorable event. Bollywood Hungama was present at the unveiling of the biggest film of Indian cinema and got a chance to watch the asset in all its glory in 3D.

Not just the media but several fans were also invited. There has never been so much crowd at PVR Lower Parel before, at least on a Thursday. The preview of the asset was held not just in the IMAX screen but also in other audis. Thankfully, the media was asked to assemble in the IMAX screen. Before the introduction video was launched, a small AV was played featuring producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari.
Namit Malhotra said, “All of us should take tremendous pride and feel great joy that we are able to bring this great story and great epic to the world in the grandest manner possible…This journey wouldn’t have been possible without Nitesh Tiwari by my side. His vision and his storytelling for Ramayana are not only unique but exemplary. What we are presenting today is where the foundation for Ramayana comes from. The trailer and teaser will be released subsequently which we will joyously present at the right time.”
Nitesh Tiwari stated in the video, “When I was a kid, my grandparents would recite Ramayana to me and I found it extremely fascinating. Then, my parents took me to a theatre to watch a film on Ramayana. As I grew a little older, I started going to Ram-Leela with my friends. I used to be completely in awe of it. I genuinely believe that (the film) Ramayana chose me. I consider myself very lucky.”
He also said, “Namit brings in infectious energy, infinite passion and great belief. I still have to pinch myself to really believe that I am working with such a star cast and technicians who are so accomplished. It’s truly unbelievable.”
After the video, the message on the screen read ‘Please put on your 3D glasses’. We did and immediately, we were transported to a different world. The 3-minute video barely showed any scene or shot from the film but the 3D effect was incredible. It was refreshing and one can sense that a lot of hard work has gone into making sure that the film looks incredible on the big screen. In fact, this is easily the best 3D film of Indian cinema by miles. As expected, fans, media and others couldn’t stop hooting.
In the AV, both Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari expressed regret over not being able to make it. However, they made their presence felt. They came to talk to the attendees after the preview of the video. Nitesh Tiwari said, “You must have seen us claiming in the video that we wouldn’t be able to make it but it was destined for us to be here! It was God’s wish that we could come today. That’s the reason why the shoot of our film got over a day before.”
Namit Malhotra exulted, “I still can’t believe that we are sharing this asset with all of you. My only aspiration is how to take this greatest part of our history and share it with the world? I want all of us Indians to not just celebrate this film but also stand proud when we take it to the world at the greatest level.”
He also added, “Your support means the world to all of us. We are working incredibly hard and we’ll leave no stone unturned to make sure that we deliver the very best that anybody in the world can (aim for).”
Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The music is by Hans Zimmer and A R Rahman and the VFX is by 8-time Academy Award winners, DNEG.
Part 1 of Ramayana will release on Diwali 2026 and part 2 on Diwali 2027.
