The Haryana government has unveiled a new pilot initiative designed to provide free coaching for competitive exams like the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Defence Academy (NDA). This move aims to level the playing field for students from government schools by equipping them with the necessary support to excel in these national-level exams.

State Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda emphasised the initiative’s focus on academically meritorious students, with the Education Department currently developing the project. If successful, the programme is expected to be expanded across the state.

“The goal is to equip talented students with the necessary support to excel in national-level exams. Coaching sessions will be conducted after school hours by experienced government school teachers,” Dhanda stated.

    ENHANCING ACADEMIC SUPPORT

In addition to the free coaching initiative, Dhanda reaffirmed the government’s commitment to elevating the quality of education in Haryana’s public schools. A crucial aspect of this commitment is the strengthening of academic support systems.

The state plans to institutionalise parent-teacher meetings in government schools, a practice commonly seen in private institutions, to enhance communication and increase parental involvement in students’ academic progress. This step aims to create a more collaborative environment for student development.

    SPORTS SUCCESS CELEBRATED

While discussing educational advancements, Dhanda also highlighted the remarkable achievements of Haryana’s athletes on international platforms.

Athletes from the state have made significant contributions to India’s success in major events such as the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, and World Championships. This commendation signals the government’s recognition of the importance of holistic development, including both academic and extracurricular pursuits.

    A STEP TOWARD EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

The introduction of this pilot programme is a significant move towards ensuring equal academic opportunities for deserving students in Haryana. By providing the resources for free coaching, the state is enhancing the overall education ecosystem, offering deserving students a chance to rise through national-level competitive exams. This initiative not only focusses on academic excellence but also promotes equal access to educational resources, reflecting Haryana’s broader educational goals.
