The 21-year-old Richa Ghosh has been creating wonders with the bat in hand, setting new records one after another. The young Indian wicketkeeper-batter has not only made her place in India’s squad but also created history with her stance on the field. On July 1, 2025, Richa added another feather to her cap by becoming the fastest batter in women’s T20I, during the second T20I against England at the County Ground in Bristol. The 21-year-old Indian wicketkeeper-batter has set a new benchmark by becoming the quickest player to reach 1000 runs in T20Is in terms of balls faced.
Richa Ghosh creates history in the second T20I
Facing England’s right-arm medium pace bowler, Lauren Filer, Richa top-edged a short delivery for a boundary, scoring four. With that outstanding boundary hit, Richa became the seventh Indian woman to cross the 1000-run mark in T20Is, and the fastest Indian woman to hit the mark. Richa has created history by scoring a total of 1029 runs in 64 T20I matches with a strike rate of 143.11. With a difference of just two balls, the Isle of Man’s Lucy Barnett tops the milestone by taking fewer deliveries than Richa.
India becomes the first team to beat England in women’s T20Is at Bristol
India’s massive 24-run win in the women’s T20 International over England has yet again proved the team’s power of the Women in Blue. For the uninitiated, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. However, India landed in big trouble during the powerplay after losing three wickets with just 31 runs on board. But it was the 93-run partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur, scoring 63 runs off 41 balls and 63 not out off 40 balls respectively, that changed the whole game. Later, Richa gave a quick finish with an unbeaten knock, which included 6 boundaries of 32 runs in just 20 deliveries.
Richa Ghosh’s journey so far
Born on September 28, 2003, Richa made her T20I debut in January 2020, at the mere age of 16. She was selected in the 2020 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup just 16 and was also part of the Indian national team in the 2020 Australia Women’s Tri-Nation series. Over the years, Richa has played 64 T20I matches with 53 innings, and scored two half-centuries. She also played 37 ODI matches, scoring 800 runs with six half-centuries. Richa also appeared in two Test matches and scored 151 runs by crossing the 50-run benchmark twice.

What lies ahead for India?
After India’s massive win over England in the second T20I, with a 2-0 lead in the five-match series, now the expectation is quite high. This was the first time in the history that England lost a Women’s T20I match at Bristol. Indian women’s cricket team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, has also lauded the whole team for their brilliant performance. She especially mentioned the partnership between Jemimah Rodrigues and Amanjot Kaur. The third T20I will take place at The Oval in London on July 4, 2025. Sharing her take on the T20I match, Harmanpreet said:
“Good win for us, the way the entire team performed today was special to see. The way Jemimah and Amanjot played gave us a platform. When boundaries were not coming they were looking for twos. Still it’s a long time to see how it’ll be in the World Cup. Just focus on this series. Spin is our strength and I want to back that.”
Team BollywoodShaadis congratulates Richa Ghosh and the whole Indian Women’s cricket team for their massive win over England in the second T20I.
