Vikrant Massey, Shanaya Kapoor, director Santosh Singh and producers Mansi Bagla and Varun Bagla attended the launch of the trailer of their film Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan at a multiplex in Mumbai. Vikrant spoke very highly of Shanaya and it became the highlight of the event.
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan trailer launch: Vikrant Massey hails Shanaya Kapoor: “Jitna maine unse seekha hai in 4-5 mahino mein, utna shayad hi maine apne 21 saal ke lambe career mein seekha hoga”
Vikrant began by saying, “I had a great time working with her. The promotions are going on and people are asking her, ‘How was it for her working with me?’. Let me tell you, this is her first film. Par jitna maine unse seekha hai in 4-5 mahino mein, utna shayad hi maine apne 21 saal ke lambe career mein seekha hoga! I mean every word of it!”
As expected, there was a round of applause on this strong statement. Vikrant Massey continued, “To sign a film for your debut in which your eyes are not visible is a (risk). All of you are senior journalists and you know what I mean. With your first film, you want to win over the audience with your talent and your eyes. Here, she took a risk and for that, I commend Shanaya. We are all very proud of you.”
Shanaya Kapoor was all smiles as Vikrant Massey exulted, “This is just the beginning. I am so happy that she’ll become a star. She anyway doesn’t have dates. Saal-dedh saal tak madam busy hai. But the first on-screen hero of her life will always be me (laughs)!”
Vikrant also stated, “I believe that I should take up work which challenges me and it should also be worth your time. It’s been ages since we saw a romantic film in cinemas. 3 years ago, when Mansi and Varun approached me, I had a gut feeling that this story should be told.”
He also revealed, “Quite honestly, I am very nervous. I really feel like I am debuting. I have never done a romantic film before. I truly believe that agar chaar acche log, acchi neeyat se imaandari se kaam karte hain, toh paani ki tarah kahin na kahin woh neeyat apna raasta dhoond leti hai (smiles).”
Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan releases in cinemas on July 11.
