Veteran actor, Paresh Rawal has been leading the headlines in 2025 due to various reasons related to the third instalment of his iconic film, Hera Pheri. After finding himself in hot water, Paresh has recently revealed that everything has been resolved between him and Akshay Kumar. He also announced that fans will again see him as ‘Baburao’ in Hera Pheri 3. However, the actor has again made headlines for his take on high ticket prices and recliner seat arrangements in multiplexes.
Paresh Rawal slams high ticket prices in Hindi movie theatres
In a recent conversation with Himanshu Mehta on his podcast, Paresh Rawal criticised the inflation in ticket prices in Hindi cinema. The veteran actor drew a parallel and compared the pricing model with South Indian cinema, whose ticket prices are regulated and usually doesn’t exceed Rs. 200. Paresh shared that if a particular film is endorsed only by rich people and the general public avoids it due to inflated ticket prices, then that is very wrong. In his words:
“If the aam janta (general public) shuns your film and only the rich class endorses your films, then it’s wrong. If a middle-class family, comprising 5-6 members, go to watch a film, unke Rs. 5000-6000 toh yuh nikal jaate hai. Also, there’s no guarantee that the film will satisfy you.”
Paresh Rawal criticises the recliner seat arrangements in multiplexes
Further in the conversation, Paresh also talked about the seating arrangements in multiplexes and took a dig at the people who go to multiplexes to relax rather than watch a film with all their heart. He also slammed the concept of waiters roaming around to take orders for popcorn and cold drinks and said that it’s not a wedding event. He also called out the public who sit in theatres with a pillow. In his words:
“You are supposed to watch a film while sitting. Let ke nahin dekhi jaati (it is not watching while lying). You haven’t come to a spa, you have come to see a film! Also, waiters keep roaming around. We have to tell them ‘Hatt, hatt’. Arre it’s a film, not a wedding event. Because of all this gandagi – gold class and all– you don’t feel like going to the cinemas. It’s okay to sit comfortably on a seat. But why sit with a pillow? Aise hi baithna hai toh spa mein jao ya fir mujra dekhne jao.”
Paresh Rawal’s upcoming projects
Paresh will appear next in the film, Nikita Roy, the directorial debut of Shatrughan Sinha’s son, Kussh S Sinha, and will share the screen with actors including Sonakshi Sinha, Arjun Rampal, and Suhail Nayyar. The film was initially scheduled for release on June 27, 2025, but it will reportedly hit the big screens on July 18, 2025. Apart from this, the OMG – Oh My God! actor has Bhooth Bangla in the pipeline, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Tabu. The audience will also see him as ‘Baburao’, alongside ‘Raju’ (played by Akshay Kumar) and ‘Shyam’ (played by Suniel Shetty) in the Hera Pheri franchise.
